European
Regions Game
Joint Call Educational Multimedia |
A new and attractive way of learning and teaching European
geography, that is what Eurogame intended to offer at the end of the 2
year project time. Two series of simulation games, "Adventure"
and "Strategy", were made available for the 11-14 and 15-18 years old,
and "Puzzle games" were designed for training. Thanks to a specific Internet server, distant pupils or
classrooms had the opportunity to compete or co-operate within
multilingual games, and to exchange their knowledge and experience in a
lively way. Innovative technical solutions for coupling geographic
information together with multimedia data provided a user-friendly,
cost-effective educational tool. This new Educational product was designed, implemented and
tested by a consortium of academic experts, schoolbook publishers and
multimedia industrials of 5 countries, in co-operation with teachers
and students of 12 test schools. At the end of the program an operational demonstrator of a
new multimedia, multilingual tool for teaching and learning the
geography of Europe was available.
The Eurogame project aime to design, build and test, a
game-oriented, multilingual, multimedia tool for teaching and learning
the geography of Europe. The main challenges of EUROGAME were to
involve the actual users in all the phases of the project, and to set
up a network of schools playing and learning about Europe together.
