The main objective of this project was to build a life-long learning portal based on the MetaCampus guidelines. Such guidelines, together with the portal architecture and the software components, were submitted to the standardisation bodies for its dissemination and acceptance. The design and implementation of the MetaCampus-based portal arises many different conceptual and technical challenges: representation and interoperation of digital resources, self-service mechanisms for creating run-time personalised packetizations of learning resources, distributed and transparent user management for an authentication brokerage, conditional deliveries at the user interface, uniform payment mechanisms (e.g. M-wallets), ubiquitous learning services (e.g.: m-multimedia), personalization of the formative consultant and the integration of the partners value chains.
