Time2Learn - Research & Development Roadmap for Professional E-Training

Information Society Technologies IST-2001-38263

Time2Learn was one of a number of networks funded by the European Commission whose aim was to unite the main European players within the fields of E-learning and professional training. The project's main aim is to create a Research and Development data bank. The R&D data bank's pretext is to develop guidelines for future campaigns and developments necessary to the research and development of E-learning. These will promote the capabilities of EU-citizens and hence raise the competitiveness of Europe as a whole.

The Time2Learn network brings together partners with specialist knowledge of E-learning and professional training from eleven different countries. Industrial Organisations, academies and research institutes make up the Time2Learn committee. The project revolves around geographical development and the pursuit of participants from all of the member states, including new EU applicants.

The anticipated results of the project are:

  • the identification of current and future technologies and players in the field of E-learning research and development.
  • a continuous assessment of the need for professional training over the next seven years.
  • an analysis of the gap between the current position of research regarding the content and technology of E-learning services and market demand.
  • a confirmed R&D data bank on professional training and E-learning in Europe and recommendations for the running of future, larger networks within these fields.
